Search Engine Optimisation, or SEO, is the optimisation of your website’s content and structure, to improve organic rankings and ensure your site can be found by potential customers. But really, SEO should also do much more for your business than just increase website traffic – it should generate leads through your website, ultimately leading to more business.
SEO forms an important part of the marketing of your website, and is often overlooked by many web developers and designers, in the same way that website owners sometimes undervalue the importance of it. If your website can’t be found organically, it’s likely that you are missing out on potential business.
An SEO expert can help you to gain more traffic to your website through correct implementation of Technical SEO, placing well-written content strategically, as well as optimising the website for Local SEO.
Good SEO starts with an Audit
In order to plan an effective SEO strategy, I first do an SEO audit of your website. An SEO audit gives details about errors that exist on the website. The SEO audit also reviews the text content and links that are on the website’s pages, from an SEO perspective. Once the audit has been completed, valuable insights for optimisation will be available, and the SEO strategy and planning phase can begin.
The SEO planning phase and Keyword Research
Research is done for keywords that you’d like to rank for in search engines. During this process your competitors are also analysed to see how their websites are ranking compared to yours. The results of the keyword research allows me to effectively plan and successfully implement the SEO strategy.
Technical SEO, and implementing the SEO strategy
Technical SEO is done to allow for maximum SEO exposure and compliance with Google’s best practices for SEO. Every aspect of the site’s structure is evaluated, and corrected for effective SEO. This includes setting up the site for “Local SEO” through Schema/Structured Data, ensuring that the site is fully responsive for mobile devices, and also that the site loads as fast as possible. Site speed is an important factor for good SEO, the faster it loads, the better it will perform.
Proper tags and headings need to be placed inside content, so that it’s structured, and easy for the user to find what they are looking for.
A SSL certificate should be setup, as this also gives the website an SEO advantage.
If your content is too little or not written with SEO in mind, I will provide a detailed brief for the rewrite of content. If you prefer not to write content, I can recommend a good copywriter that can write content for SEO.
Seeing the results
Seeing good results with SEO usually takes a few months. Normally I recommend a period of at least 6 months where SEO is done on a regular basis, and the Analytics reviewed frequently to see which other search engine optimisation improvements can be made.
The website’s search engine optimisation performance is tracked with Insights software, as well as Google Analytics. I provide performance reports on a regular basis to help you measure and keep track of the progress.
I’ve seen excellent results when doing SEO for clients. With regular growth in traffic, and increased leads and sales, SEO can be a huge success for your business.
